Prix AMO

Abolishing Categories

A long-standing relationship connects AHA and the AMO Prize. In 2018, at the initiative of Martin Duplantier, newly appointed president of the Association Architecture et Maîtres d’Ouvrage, AHA redesigned the award structure, creating six new categories:
Most Beautiful Transformation
Boldest Execution
Most Creative Typology
Most Productive Place
Best Urban Catalyst
In 2019, a seventh category was added: TransEuropeArchi.
That year — marked by the European elections and the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall — served as a reminder of the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding in a fragile Europe. After Belgium (2019), Spain (2021), Italy (2022), Ukraine (2023), and Switzerland (2024), Germany will be the partner country of the AMO Prize in 2025.

In 2018 and 2019, AHA curated and hosted the AMO Prize award ceremonies — first at the Palais Brongniart, Paris (2018), then at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris (2019). In 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2025, AHA also designed the laureates’ posters for four editions of the prize. In 2021, AHA produced six short films for the award ceremony. And in 2025, under the leadership of the new co-presidents Matthias Navarro (Redman) and Céline Bouvier (LBB), AHA created the new AMO Prize logo in collaboration with Paul Gacon, as well as a special insert for L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui magazine. AHA also designed the new AMO Prize trophy in collaboration with designer Léonard Kadid.
