Architecture is a discipline in which imagination acts upon society. It is in this spirit that Sophie Delhay was awarded the prestigious Schelling Prize for Architecture. AHA produced the 12-minute film commissioned by the Schelling Foundation to showcase her work. Revisiting five built projects completed by Sophie Delhay over the past ten years — Nantes (with Boskop), Lille Machu Pichu, Dijon Unités et Cathédrales, and Paris 13 — the film reveals how the research themes of her practice permeate each project, and, in turn, how the projects continually feed back into that research. This is an applied investigation, one that obsessively explores housing as the discipline that most clearly articulates the intersection between social and spatial dimensions. The film captures inhabited dwellings, lived in for several years — spaces that testify to this ongoing dialogue between research and reality.
