In what was once the former director’s house of the Sudac factories, the public developer Semapa sought to enhance the visibility of its urban project, now extending to the southeastern edge of the capital. Following a competition, Semapa entrusted DATA with the transformation of this relatively ordinary building, located on Quai Panhard-Levassor, at the entrance to the Paris Val-de-Seine School of Architecture. Anticipating the building’s future uses, DATA delivered more than a mere scenography: the project functions as a tool-building, a true workspace, workshop, and meeting space designed to construct the urban project itself. Despite a cylindrical structure that combines the transparency of glass with the lightness of metal, concentrating the technical systems, the interior remains raw and flexible, adaptable to a wide variety of uses.
