The city of Pélissane is an old fortified city located in the heart of Provence. In the 16th century, because of the agricultural development, the old town became a residential area with many mansions including the Maureau house, built in 1642 in a park in the town centre. The new media library consists of a renovation and extension of this dwelling. The project dialogues between the verticality of the volume of the house and the horizontality of the extension. This dialogue is based on the contrast between the apparent homogeneity of the facades and the tones and nuances of local materials, such as ocher and Rognes stone. Photos: Eugeni Pons
