Rural tinder
State adviser architects' 2023 seminar in Pesmes and Arc-et-Senans in Doubs (25)
Greenwich Village or Paris Olympic Village... Towns like to see themselves as villages. But where are we with regards to reviving village centres in rural spaces dying out everywhere. The concern for soil preservation, the renewed interest in local productions and in remote working invoke a new sense of urban citizenship in settlements of a population under 2000 inhabitants. It is the ultimate playground of the french State adviser architects, who have intimate access to mayors of meagre means but high hopes. If the rural social fabric is structured on proximity and complimentary activity, you can bet those can help the State advisers make this campaign count without debasing its rural roots. And is there something architecturally specific in rural territory? That is the basic question behind the State adviser architects' 2023 seminar in collaboration with A H A and Demain Matin.
